Los Angeles, CA, USA – January 7, 2022 – New Year holidays are upon us, as people all over the world wait for a miracle with baited breath. For some, this is a long-anticipated gift or trip, a promotion at work for others, while yet others dream of reuniting with loved ones and a long, warm hug. True Christmas miracle that Ukrainians have been waiting for is the support of the world, which would remind them that they are not alone in their daily gruelling marathon for a peaceful existence. Because it has been seven years since Russia occupied Crimea and launched its war in Eastern Ukraine.

More than 50 thousand people from 60 countries have already united in support of Ukraine and joined the Marathon in New York No One Wants to Run. New York, a village in Ukraine one mile away from the Donbas war zone, started its own marathon to raise awareness about Russian aggression. The event launched on November 7, the day of the 2021 NYC Marathon, and is called the Marathon No One Wants to Run.

“Just imagine! Thousands of people from around the world – from New York, USA to New York, Ukraine, the Australian metropolis Brisbane and the Swedish capital Stockholm, from Istanbul, one of the world’s most populous cities, to the small village of Sundai in Norway – all expressed support for Ukraine and carry on doing so,” – says Nova Poshta co-founder Inna Popereshnyuk, – “And we don’t stop and continue the project online.”

Anyone still willing to join the event can do so by visiting marathonnoonewantstorun.org/en.

To support Ukraine, download and print one of the template starter numbers found on our site. Anyone can run the symbolic distance from anywhere in the world, and so express their support for Ukraine. As thanks for spreading the word, the organizers offer a digital marathon medal created by Canadian-based Ukrainian designer Yurko Gutsulyak.

A huge wave of support has risen both within Ukraine and all over the world as people have begun organizing their own initiatives. The running communities of Ukraine’s eastern cities Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and the Ukrainian New York itself have held group races. The project has transformed into a flash mob, mobilizing society on a friendly note.

Eight polar explorers from the 26th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition from Academician Vernadsky Station also joined the Marathon No One Wants to Run by doing a symbolic circle around the aerology building. Covering even such a seemingly insignificant distance in Antarctica is an arduous challenge indeed. When millions of people in the world unite for a good cause, miracles are bound to happen!
